The PhotoBook Cafe zine Archive Vol 1 is the start of our journey in to the world of Photography zines. Over the past 4 years PhotoBook Cafe has recived over 200 Photographic zines into our archive and library. Alongside this, PBC was donated the collection ZINES OF THE WORLD, which was put together by Doomed Gallery through open calls between 2014 and 2018.

Our archive now hosts around 600 Photography zines from all over the world.

The zine to us is the true identity of Self Publishing. With the rising cost of printing, paper and book and publishing production, zines are more important than ever. Vol: 1 is a starting showcase of our archive. Each month we will be releasing another Volume, showcasing the zines in all their zine glory.

Over the summer of 2023, we are documenting and archiving all our photography zines so they can be viewed online via our digital library and also within our cafe. We hope that this large document will help spread the word about zines and be an important tool for people wanting to learn more about photography zines and the people that make them.
