In 2022 Creative Basildon, funded by Arts Council England, launched its pilot programme of the Field Artist in Residence. The aim of the programe was to engage and explore different themes affecting the communities of Basildon Borough’s five core towns, through socially engaged practice and innovative exploration. Amy Ryall, an Essex born photographer, was commissioned to work within the Pitsea community, in an attempt to capture the essence of this town and the people that call it home.
Pics’ Island is a project for those people, telling a story of life in the borough and was released as a limited run zine in 2023.
